I will never forget what one of my favorite nutritionist mentors once told me. She said, “Fat is not a feeling.”

I hadn’t thought about that before, and now I share it with my clients often. People are not fat. They have fat. They have teeth too, but they are not teeth.

Words of wisdom: The next time you feel fat, slow down and think about what else might be going on with you. Are you worried, anxious, sad, upset? This may be uncomfortable to do especially if you’re not used to thinking about how you feel. Sometimes it’s just easier to eat and use food to stuff down those negative emotions. But, I encourage you to give it a try and see what happens.

What are you really feeling when you “feel” fat? See if you can figure it out, and then let me know what you come up. I’d love to explore this with you.
