ID-10073547Since there is no magic bullet, weight loss is going to take some effort; but it doesn’t need to be so hard and so complicated that you can’t succeed. The best weight loss plan is a simple one; in fact, the simpler, the better. There’s no need to go for an elaborate plan including expensive foods or supplements; just eat plain old real food.

And, most importantly, any successful weight loss plan must include the foods you enjoy. Take pasta, for example. So many people love it, but think they must live without it when they go “on” a diet. And then – usually sooner than later – they end up feeling deprived and go “off” the diet. This is the inherent downside of “dieting” and one of the main reasons why diets don’t work. A better approach is to include your beloved pasta (or any food you love), and eat it in a way that it will support your weight loss efforts.

Powerful Weight Loss Tip: eat the food you love.

Continuing with our pasta example, if you want to include it in your weight loss plan, here’s how to do it. First of all, be mindful of your portion. It’s very easy to overdo the serving size of pasta – as it is with any favorite food. Stick to the recipe’s suggested serving size, and you’ll be fine. If you’re eating out at a restaurant, share your pasta dish or take half (or more) home and make another meal (or two) out of it.

Next, try making the switch to whole wheat pasta. Eating fewer refined grains and more whole grains can help lower insulin sensitivity – and that can lower blood glucose levels and reduce the accumulation of body fat. Plus, whole wheat pasta has more fiber making it more filling than regular pasta, so you can eat less and stay satisfied longer. You can make the switch gradually by starting with a whole wheat pasta blend such as Ronzoni Healthy Harvest Whole-Wheat Blend Pasta. It’s less coarse and chewy than the 100 percent whole-wheat varieties but still more nutritious than traditional white pasta. Once you get used to the blend, you can transition to the 100 percent whole wheat varieties.
